When Fertilization Actually Helps
Fertilization is not a cure-all, and a tree declining from oak wilt or root damage will not be fixed by feeding it. It genuinely helps when:
A tree shows poor color or reduced growth with no other clear cause
A tree is recovering from drought, storm damage, or construction stress
A newly planted tree is establishing
Soil is known to be poor or heavily compacted
A mature specimen tree is being maintained as a long-term investment
